Alex had a dentist appointment in Hershey today, so afterwards we headed to our old hangout- the Rural Village creek!
It was the perfect day for hanging out at the shady, cold creek.
We saw two things we haven't seen before at the creek~ birds taking a bath and a water snake! We were crossing the creek (and I was barefoot- eek!) and I saw a snake swimming a couple feet in front of us. I managed to calmly point him out to Alex, then we turned around and after taking deep breaths I found a walking stick so I felt a little more protected crossing again. I don't think Alex has caught on to my snake fear, when we got to the other side he exclaimed "Oh cool, we got to see a snake swim!"
Grammy met us for a picnic lunch at the little park by the creek. Alex wanted her to get in the water, and when she declined he worked on building a channel for the water to get to her- he sure is resourceful!
After lunch Alex and Grammy played patty cake, I love watching their silliness together!
We made a fun afternoon snack, a grape caterpillar!
We had several other firsts today (much better than seeing a water snake) we heard the first cicadas and picked four cucumbers from our garden!
I remember this cool creek...glad that you got to visit your old stomping grounds. Always a fun day when you have a little water activity and a picnic. How fun to have Grammy join in the fun!!
Love the grape caterpiller ;-)

I can't believe Grammy was even that close to the water after hearing about the snake! Or didn't you tell her? Alex will save both of you.
